Partnership

Obviously I've been away for a while on the old blogging thing. Liam at St. Andrews Baptist as asked me to guest blog on their site for the next couple of weeks so I will post those here too in a bid to try and rediscover my blogging rythm.

This feels kind of wierd I have to say. The realisation that I might have the capacity to get Liam fired is quite a strange one. Regardless of how wierd it feels on one level though I am greatly encouraged by the work that is going on in St. Andrews. I sometimes find myself chatting to people in other churches and they are describing the sort of things that are happening with a kind of 'can't see the wood for the trees' glaze in their expression. It is easy for us to overlook all the amazing things that God is doing, His wonderful provision made available to us by His grace. If one life is transformed is is worth it? That's the question and I hope that we all recognise the answer.

That is one of the great priveleges of partnership, the sense of sharing the goodness of God in such a way as allows us to see what He is doing often right under our noses. At Castlemilk we are deeply thankful to you for your prayers for what God is doing in our fellowship. You know that we have been praying for you all as well and it is this sort of partnership across a country and across contexts that is humbling to say the least because it gives legs to what Paul describes to his Philippian friends as the essence of Christian partnership (1: 3-6). It is marked by thankfulness for them, prayerfulness about them and underlines it all with a statement brimming with the expectation of the ongoing, transforming work of God in their lives. that must be our prayer for one another. We started our teaching year looking at Hebrews 12: 1-3 under the title (which we hope will be a statement of intent for 2007) 'Living for Jesus by Living like Jesus.' That is our prayer for you all as we enjoy this great God-given partnership in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
